What we do
The definition of an improved cooker is generally considered by the World Bank (2011) to be a relative concept that depends on various factors:
- Traditional cookestove type considered
- The goal of improvement
- Accessibility
The improved cookestove can be designed to improve energy efficiency, remove smoke from an interior space and reduce/improve labour for the kitchen. Therefore, based on the different existing approaches, the improved cooker can be considered a generic term that encompasses a wide variety and diversity of cookers, but always with the common goal of achieving energy efficiency
Improved aluminium cookestove
We produce and distribute an improved aluminium-based cookestove that uses charcoal as fuel. It has a certified energy efficiency of 45%, as it saves exactly 45% on the use of charcoal compared to a conventional charcoal cookestove.
- The cookestove is easy to transport, weighing just 7kg
- Capable of supporting pans weighing up to 100kg
- They last for 2 years, renewable for the same period
- Easy to clean/wash
- It has air vents that facilitate complete combustion of the charcoal
Production and distribution
- The cookestove is produced at our factory in the Intaka neighbourhood, in the municipality of Matola. We use a semi-industrial production system and have a team of professionals trained at our factory, largely made up of residents of the same neighbourhood where the factory is located.
- We distribute our cookerstove throughout the south of the country, in some districts of Maputo, Gaza and Inhambane provinces, and our target audience is low-income families
